Not exactly. The type of permit you receive depends on how you apply:
We recommend a photo permit. Both types are valid for driver’s ed and practice driving, but photo permits are generally preferred—they’re easier to use as ID and eliminate the need to carry an additional photo ID while driving.
If you’re using a non-photo permit, you must carry a separate, government issued photo ID that clearly shows your legal name (pictures and photocopies of this ID are not valid for identification). Acceptable options include:

Our designated proctoring hours are Monday–Thursday between 11 AM–1 PM or 4–6 PM, and Fridays from 3–6 PM.
Most applicants finish in about 35–40 minutes, so be sure to give yourself enough time.
We suggest showing up by 12:20 PM for morning slots and 5:20 PM for evening ones to finish without feeling rushed.
